Stormport’s Connection Director Steve James was proud to attend the official opening of phase 2 of Grovemere Property’s Lancaster Way Business Park in Ely, Cambs on Friday July 21^st 2017. This prestigious development now has a further 75 acres of land to develop.

The ribbon was cut by the local MP for South East Cambridgeshire, Lucy Frazer who said “I am delighted to see the progress being made at Lancaster Way Business Park which forms part of the Cambridge Compass Enterprise Zone. The growth of business within the park during the last 5 years has been phenomenal and I understand a further 2 buildings are scheduled to commence prior to the end of 2017 creating another 150,000 sq. ft. of commercial space with the ability to host up to 600 employees”.

Stormport have provided much of the electricity infrastructure on phase 1 including 3 new high voltage substations and over 3 kilometres of cable.

Stormport’s ICP team took full control of the final connections works on two of our latest projects on July 19/20th, under UK Power Networks, Mechanism 2 – ICP Self-Connection procedure.

Stormport’s Senior Authorised Person (SAP) (Calvin Lawrence) took full control of the required circuit outages and managed the connection activity to completion, inclusive of all commissioning tasks on two new high voltage industrial & commercial (I&C) connections on Lancaster Way, Ely for @GrovemereP

Stormport’s jointing teams are fully UK Power Networks authorised and competence assessed in accordance with Competition in Connections (CiC) Code of Practice (CoP).

Stormport is one of only a very small number of Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) that can utilise Mechanism 2 Self-Connect. By using Mechanism 2 we can manage the entire project for our clients from inception to final energisation with our own directly employed authorised staff.

The work in Cambridge Road, Ely will start on Monday 5 June and is expected to take approximately three weeks, working in three approximately 100 metre sections. In each section parking restrictions and, if appropriate, temporary lights will be in place to enable the works to be undertaken safely and reduce congestion by maintaining two-way traffic wherever possible. Parking will be possible outside the restricted section and pedestrian access to all private properties will be maintained at all times. The contractor’s site manager will contact residents individually where possible, so the works and parking restrictions can be managed effectively and sympathetically with you.

We appreciate that the whole road was resurfaced in August 2016 and it is unfortunate that this further disruption has proved necessary. We would like to reassure residents that the County Council, its partners and Grovemere did everything possible to avoid this situation, that this work is being done at no cost to the tax payer, and the road surface will be fully reinstated to ‘as new’ condition following the works, using the same material and the same contractor who carried out the previous resurfacing work in Cambridge Road.
