Stormport’s Directors and Senior Staff have considerable experience in the electricity industry, at all levels and disciplines.
Steve joined Eastern Electricity in 1978 as a Craft Apprentice, progressing to Contract Manager. In 1996, he founded Baineport Engineering Services Limited which was acquired by the Freedom Group in 2006. Steve started Stormport Professional Services Limited in 2009.
Pete is our Senior Director and helped set up Stormport with Steve in 2009. He has worked in the distribution industry for over 35 years, progressing through various engineering grades with Eastern Electricity, from linesman to senior authorised engineer and remains operational today. Pete furthered his experience as a Senior Manager with Scottish Hydro before returning to Cambridgeshire to assist Steve with the success of Baineport Engineering Services in 1996. Becoming part of the Senior Management Team with Freedom when Baineport was acquired, Pete moved on once more to an exciting new challenge with Stormport!
Steve has worked in the industry since 1974. Starting as a senior authorised distribution engineer he progressed through to a First Engineer design role before moving into commercial roles in gas trading in the early days of competition in supply. He joined Steve and Pete in Baineport in 2001 and remained with Freedom after the acquisition in 2006. Steve held Director level roles in Freedom first running the Major Projects division before becoming Business Development Director in 2012. Steve re-joined his old colleagues at Stormport in 2017 and is looking forward to growing the business in a controlled way and ensuring existing customers continue to receive a great service.
Nikki has worked with Steve and Pete for around 15 years with both Baineport and Stormport and is an integral part of the Company. In addition to finance management, Nikki has developed and oversees robust management systems for customer service, safety, quality and the environment. Nikki has led the team to achieve all the recognised standards and accreditations for the Company.
Richard has over 35 years’ experience within the electricity industry, engaging with Baineport and Freedom to successfully deliver a range of works. Richard maintains his Senior Authorised status whilst managing a highly productive workforce, delivering an outstanding service to our clients.
Matt is Stormport’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Co-ordinator and Contract Manager for the Western Power Distribution (WPD) area. He’s been working in the industry for more than 10 years having started with Baineport in 2004 as a Business Analyst. Matt helps advise the Company Directors on HSEQ matters and also ensures clients receive the best possible service.
Rachel has played an instrumental part in establishing Stormport’s highly efficient business management systems. As Compliance Manager, Rachel has implemented electronic systems that enable us to track and monitor health, safety, environment and quality performance. Rachel ensures that we adhere to legal standards, our external accreditations and in-house policies as well as providing guidance on compliance matters.
Tim served a student apprenticeship with East Midlands Electricity Board in the late sixties. He registered as a chartered engineer in 1976 & has worked in the mining & electrical supply industries both here and abroad. Finally retiring from Central Networks (now WPD) as Contract Manager Inspections & Maintenance. He joined Stormport in 2009 to assist with and advise on electrical network safety.
Ray is our Safety and Training Officer, ensuring that trainees are given the tools and skills to achieve their full potential. He has a vast amount of training and safety experience, developing many of the risk assessments and safety systems used by Baineport, Freedom and Stormport.
Rob is an experienced construction/highways manager and heads up Stormport’s civil activities. With a background in civil engineering going back 20 years, he has extensive knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act from his training/assessing and senior management roles with local authorities.
Having completed a four-year electrical apprenticeship with East Midlands Electricity, Richard has held various electrical engineering positions including planning, construction and maintenance. Having attained SAP status at 33kV, Richard also held senior positions at Central Networks in both programme and contract management, being responsible for all outsourced contracts for the distribution business. His last role was as Operations Director at OCS, where he was responsible for their utility arboriculture business.
